The Fitmom Story
The Original Fitmom was founded in 1999 by Andrea Page during her recovery from severe postpartum depression — at a time when maternal mental health was rarely discussed publicly. Motivated by her own experience and determined to help other women feel less isolated, Andrea combined her background in fitness and human services to create a supportive, evidence-informed program for moms navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and early motherhood.
What began as a small grassroots initiative quickly grew into a nationally and internationally recognized movement in prenatal and postnatal wellness. Over the past two decades, FITMOM has supported tens of thousands of women through fitness education, coaching, childbirth preparation, community support, and specialized wellness programming designed specifically for women at every stage of motherhood and beyond. Andrea developed the original FITMOM Coach™ curriculum and manual, training instructors and licensees across Canada and internationally while educating fitness professionals through CanFitPro and other industry platforms.
Andrea became widely recognized as an expert in prenatal and postnatal fitness and collaborated on maternal wellness resources connected to the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), including “Healthy Beginnings,” helping advance conversations around safe exercise during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and maternal mental health. Long before these conversations became mainstream, her work emphasized the powerful connection between movement, emotional wellbeing, recovery, and community support for women.
As her work evolved, Andrea expanded FITMOM beyond prenatal and postpartum care to support women through midlife, menopause, aging, grief, burnout, and major life transitions. Her coaching philosophy recognizes that women’s health is deeply interconnected — physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Through strength training, restorative movement, mindset coaching, nervous system support, and compassionate accountability, Andrea has helped countless women rebuild confidence and reconnect with themselves during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives.
Known for her deeply empathetic and empowering approach, Andrea’s coaching style is trauma-informed, grief-informed, and rooted in lived experience. She has become especially known for helping women make powerful “comebacks” after divorce, loss, illness, postpartum struggles, caregiver burnout, hormonal changes, anxiety, depression, and other life-altering events. Her work creates safe spaces where women feel seen, supported, and capable of healing while rediscovering their strength and identity.
In addition to live programming and coaching, Andrea has authored hundreds of articles on women’s wellness, prenatal fitness, postpartum recovery, menopause, and motherhood support. She also created educational resources including a multi-part FITMOM DVD series, workshops, speaking engagements, and online wellness programming that continues to reach women across generations.
Andrea’s story and expertise have been featured in national television, print, and parenting media including Canada’s Success Stories with Sandi Rinaldo, Chatelaine, Today’s Parent, the Toronto Star, the Toronto Sun, Citytv, and Breakfast Television. Through FITMOM, she helped pioneer a more compassionate, community-centered, and holistic approach to women’s wellness — one that continues to evolve alongside the real-life needs of women from motherhood through menopause and beyond.
